Mr. Almaraj is the Chief Executive Officer of Bank ABC’s Digital Retail Bank “ila” in Bahrain, having joined the bank in 2015. Prior to this appointment, Mohamed served as the COO of ila Bank. Previously, he played a key role in several Group level initiatives including the establishment of Bank ABC’s DIFC office, launch of the Debt Capital Markets practice, and the launch of B-wallet, and acquiring POS machines for Bank ABC’s digital payments subsidiary AFS.
Prior to joining Bank ABC, Mr. Almaraj was a Senior Associate with the investment bank, Perella Weinberg Partners, in New York with a focus on mergers & acquisitions transactions and corporate restructurings in the technology, media, telecom and financial services sectors. He has 10 years of experience in corporate finance, investments, restructurings and digital transformations across the GCC and the US.
He is a board member of the following companies:
- Arab Financial Services (“AFS”) – Bahrain based payment solutions provider and Cards Processer. Member of the Audit Committee.
- Bahrain Car Parks Company – Bahrain based public company that specializes in the management of Car Parks and providing car park solutions. Executive Committee Member and Head of the Digital Committee
- Finzo – a Bahrain based fintech solutions provider. Member of the Audit Committee
He holds a B.S. in Finance and Accounting from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, United States.
